Interdisciplinary Methodology

Technology leadership is conditional on listening readily to customer wishes and market-oriented needs. Market-oriented machine and process developments entail close co-operation between science and practice.

Consequently new developments from Westfalia Separator are accompanied by fundamental research and practical trials. Since the company's formation in 1893, over 2000 patents have been granted. Since 1989 patents filed numbered over 300.

The basis for this is the interdisciplinary interplay of manufacturing possibilities and decades of know-how gained from experience with the disciplines of

Forward-looking innovations from Westfalia Separator in machine technology included:

  the "short-spindle" drive on separators for smooth, low-vibration running
  the "soft-stream" feed system on separators for optimum separation efficiency
  the "VISCON" system (viscosity-controlled nozzles) on nozzle separators for uniform product quality
  the HydroStop system on separators for precise and fast bowl ejections and highly concentrated solids
  the UNITROL system on mineral oil separators for optimum treatment of HFO
  the two-gear drive on decanters for optimum dewatering at high throughput capacities
